Free Legal Aid Clinic
The Free Legal Aid Clinic is held every Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 PM at Third Level Crisis Intervention Center, Inc. located at 1022 E. Front Street in Traverse City. It is an opportunity for individuals to receive private, free and confidential legal advice and problem clarification from attorneys from the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association. Over 100 attorneys from the bar volunteer their time to the program and answer legal questions of all types.
Services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 15 people who arrive. Sign up begins at 5:00 PM Tuesday.
Legal Services Program
The Legal Services Program is another cooperative effort between Third Level and the Bar Association. The program provides legal services to individuals needing representation but who are unable to afford it.
Following an initial interview with an attorney at the Free Legal Aid Clinic, potential recipients of this service are referred to a Third Level staff for a financial eligibility screening. If the person is eligible, the staff will provide the name of a participating attorney. All further contacts are then between the attorney and client.
The Free legal Aid Clinic and the Legal Services Program are funded by Legal Services of Northern Michigan, Inc., The Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association and donations.
