Robert Fenton, Financial Advisor at Raymond James, Vice President

Robert J. Fenton is a Wealth Management Specialist/Financial Advisor with Raymond James and Associates here in Traverse City. He specializes in comprehensive financial/retirement planning for individuals, families and small businesses. Prior to joining Raymond James he spent over 25 years in the consumer products/sporting goods industry representing and leading the sales and marketing efforts for many globally known sportswear/sporting good brands. In addition to his corporate experience he has led three different start-ups, two of which were focused on sportswear and the other within the Internet industry. Robert is also a volunteer counselor for SCORE here in TC which is a not-for-profit providing business counsel for those looking to start a business or improve the results of an existing one. He and his family attend First Congregational Church and thoroughly enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer especially the arts and sports. "I am very honored to be on the board for the Third Level Crisis Intervention Center and look forward to helping this critically important community program continue to grow in its efforts to provide crisis and outreach programs for families and youths in our area.

Tanya Flores, Plante & Moran, PLLC, Treasurer

Tanya has eleven years of experience in public accounting. She specializes in financial statement audits and reviews, as well as corporate and partnership taxation for oil and gas and the manufacturing and distribution industry.  Tanya is the current vice president of COPAS of Michigan and the treasurer of the Third Level Crisis Intervention Center.

Pat Haber, Director

Pat Haber, a retired clinical social worker, has worked in Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor as a psychotherapist for 40 years, before moving to the Traverse City area. Her work experience, with a wide variety of clientele, includes working at the Kalamazoo Child Guidance Clinic, Catholic Social Services of Oakland County, outpatient clinics in the Ann Arbor, Dearborn area, and finally, as a private practitioner in Ann Arbor. Pat is married to Dan Klimaszewski, and they have 4 children between them, as well as 2 grandsons--so far.

James C. Baker, Attorney, Smith & Johnson, P.C., Director

Originally from Rogers City, Mr. Baker is an attorney with the local firm:  Smith & Johnson, Attorneys, P.C.  He is a graduate of Michigan State University and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  James lives in Kingsley with his wife Julie and is the proud father of three great kids - two of which are twins.  He is a licensed attorney, and practices in all Michigan Courts, including the Federal Courts.  He has previously clerked for the Michigan Attorney General and as an Extern with Michigan Supreme Court Justice, Michael Cavanagh.  He has been published twice; including a discussion paper analyzing the various international models of legal representation for children.

           Prior to his legal career, Mr. Baker worked with youth at risk in Sydney, Australia and Chicago.  He is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as Presidential Honor Guard under President Reagan.  He currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors of Third Level Crisis Intervention Center; as well as being a member of the local Marine Corps League detachment.  He and his family are parishioners at St. Francis Catholic Parish in Traverse City.

Jeremy Hawke, Director

Jeremy is a Senior Vice President with The Bank of Northern Michigan and is responsible for the Bank's Traverse City office as well as overseeing the bank's Business Banking group in all of their markets. He has 20-years of experience in Banking and financial management. He is a member of Central United Methodist Church and is the Chair of their Finance Committee. He has both his BS and MBA degrees from Western Michigan University. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and taking advantage of all of the great outdoor activities our area has to offer.

Donna Hornberger, Director

Donna Hornberger has lived on Old Mission Peninsula since 2001, when she moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in Kentucky and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. She holds a Masters in Library Science from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.

She retired from the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County in 2000, after spending 18 years as the Head of the Literature and Languages Department. Prior to that she had worked as a children's librarian and reference librarian.

Currently Donna is president of the League of Women Voters of the Grand Traverse Area, on the board of directors of the Old Mission Peninsula Community Library, and a member of the Old Mission Peninsula Historical Society (formerly President) and the Maritime Heritage Alliance.

Donna is married to Lee Hornberger and has two adult sons, two adult step-daughters, and three grandchildren.

Donna joined the Board of Third Level because she has a commitment to working to improve the lives of others. She looks forward to meeting and working with everyone at Third Level.

Chris Wendel, Director

Chris Wendel has been part of the Michigan Small Business & Technology Center since 2003. Working initially as a business consultant he has counseled hundreds of businesses in the areas of business planning, marketing, and finance.

In 2005 he was chosen as one of three Michigan SBTDC Counselors to assist with the Small Business Administration with its Disaster Loan Program in U.S Gulf Coast following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In 2006 Wendel was named Regional Director for the SBTDC’s Region 2 covering over ten counties in northwestern Michigan.

Wendel is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a BA in Economics and has work experience in marketing, manufacturing as well as 15 years of retail experience. He is also a contributing writer to the Traverse City Business News where he writes books reviews and pieces related to best practices for small businesses. Wendel also plans and teaches an entrepreneurial curriculum at Northwest Michigan College.
